Cell Phone Use Policy

The Sparta Public Library is aware of the need to “stay in touch.” However, ringing cell phones and personal phone conversations can be distracting and disturbing to others. Therefore, in response to numerous complaints by patrons, the following policy is effective immediately:

  • Library patrons should make all calls in the main or lower level lobbies of the library. When receiving an incoming call, patrons should move to one of these places to take the call.
  • Library patrons should use the silent signal function as the alert for incoming calls. Patrons who do not have the silent function should turn the audible signal to the lowest volume.
